Principal's Message

Dear President Avenue Families,

On behalf of all our staff, I welcome you to the 2024-2025 school year. I am looking forward to a continued partnership with you to ensure your child has access to all the necessary support from both home and school. For those of you new to us, WELCOME TO PRESIDENT! We are eager to be your partner in your child’s education and invite you to call or visit us when you have any questions regarding your child’s progress in school.  We plan to keep you informed about school events and activities by sending home a monthly newsletter, flyers, our school website at https://presidentavees.lausd.org, on our official school Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/presaveel, and Instagram at @presidentaveschool_official.

Both the school and home share the responsibility of educating children. President Avenue Elementary School staff and I continue to build a school environment that is welcoming to both students and families. Your active involvement and participation in your child’s education is important and contributes to making the school year successful for our students. You are invited to attend and participate in our PTA, School Advisory Council Meetings (SSC, ELAC, LSLC), Parent Education classes/workshops, Parent-Teacher Conferences, Open House, and other special school events. These activities provide opportunities for meaningful communication between you and the school, and they serve to update you on the role you can play in your child’s education. As principal, please know that the staff and I strive to create a school culture and atmosphere that welcomes students and families.Breakfast is available for all students every morning at the cafeteria from 7:30-8:30 a.m. To help facilitate students receiving a breakfast, please ensure students arrive to school on time. The cafeteria will close promptly at 8:30 a.m. Teachers will pick students lined up at the 8:00 bell. Any students who are still eating will have time to finish their breakfast with provided supervision.

  • Students arriving on buses will be walked down the cafeteria to pick up breakfast and given time to eat prior to walking to their classes.
  • TK-Kindergarten students will be walked over to the cafeteria from the Kinder yard after the bell by Mrs. Nichols and met at the lunch tables by their teachers, who will walk them through the cafeteria line and assist them with their breakfast.
  • Preschool: UTK/CC, Headstart/CC, and PALS will eat in their classrooms and/or yard with their teachers and assistants.

Your students are the BEST part of my day every single day, and it is my honor and privilege to serve as your school principal. Your students are my number one priority and I look forward to the new school year serving alongside our dedicated staff. As always, I have an open-door policy so please feel free to stop by or email me anytime.

Sincerely,
Charity D. WeberPrincipal[email protected]
